Dj Nimrod Rceives Shs10million From UNMF On Behalf Of Ugandan Djs

For a long time, the relationship between the artist and the Deejay in Uganda has been a "scratch my back, I scratch yours" kind of deal. But this week, that partnership became official business. The Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), led by Eddy Kenzo, just put Shs110 million on the table to support the deejay fraternity, proving that the federation finally views the people behind the decks as the industry’s true engine room.

We all know the drill: an artist makes a hit, but it’s the DJ who makes it a national anthem. Whether it’s in a packed club in Industrial Area, a radio station in Mbarara, or a livestream on TikTok, DJs are the gatekeepers. Despite this, they’ve often been left out of the conversation when it comes to institutional funding—until now.

The atmosphere was optimistic at the UNMF offices as the cheque was handed over to DJ Nimrod, President of the Deejays Association. While the money is a significant figure, the message it sends is even bigger:

Unity: It follows similar support recently given to artists in Western Uganda.
Professionalism: The funds are earmarked for capacity-building and "upskilling" the craft.
Welfare: A focus on ensuring that DJs, who often work irregular and grueling hours, have better institutional security.

Taking to social media, Nimrod didn’t hide his excitement. For him, this isn't just a win for his association; it’s about the next generation of DJs who want to turn their passion into a sustainable career.

As the UNMF continues to distribute resources across different sectors of the entertainment ecosystem, the goal is clear: a stronger, more organized industry where everyone from the person on the mic to the person on the mixer—gets a fair shake at success.
