Shakira Comfirms Performance With Ghetto Kids At the FIFA World Cup Halftime Show
Uganda’s internationally celebrated dance crew, the Triplets Ghetto Kids, could soon find themselves performing on one of the world’s biggest entertainment stages after Colombian superstar Shakira publicly expressed interest in featuring them at the FIFA World Cup 2026 final halftime show.
Excitement erupted online after Shakira reportedly came across one of the group’s energetic dance videos, showcasing the signature choreography and infectious charisma that have helped turn the Kampala-born crew into a global sensation. Impressed by the performance, the singer reposted the clip on her Instagram story before sending a message that immediately sent fans into a frenzy.
“I need dancers like that!! Guys, do you want to come perform with me at the finals?” Shakira wrote.
While there has been no official confirmation regarding the group’s participation, the public invitation has sparked widespread excitement among Ugandan entertainment fans, many seeing it as yet another major breakthrough for the dance troupe that has steadily risen from the streets of Kampala to international acclaim.
The opportunity, if realized, would place the Triplets Ghetto Kids on one of the largest global stages in sport and entertainment during the first ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show, scheduled for July 19, 2026. The spectacle will take place at the New York New Jersey Stadium (MetLife Stadium) in the United States and is expected to draw billions of viewers worldwide.
FIFA has confirmed that Shakira is set to co headline the inaugural halftime performance alongside pop icon Madonna and K-pop supergroup BTS, in a production curated by Chris Martin and produced in partnership with Global Citizen.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will run from June to July 19 and feature an expanded 48-team format, making it the biggest edition of the tournament in history.
For the Triplets Ghetto Kids, whose journey has been defined by turning viral moments into global opportunities, the possibility of sharing the stage with one of the world’s biggest music stars would mark yet another remarkable chapter. Over the years, the dancers have built an international reputation through viral performances, television appearances, and collaborations that continue to spotlight Ugandan talent on the global stage.
