Sheilah Gashumba Dismisses Viral Claims of “Missing Street Child”
A viral story about a “missing street child” that sent shockwaves across TikTok, WhatsApp, and other social media platforms has taken a dramatic twist, with media personality Sheilah C. Gashumba coming out to dismiss the claims and caution the public against being misled online.
The story began circulating widely after a post surfaced showing a young boy, claiming that he had stolen UGX 8 million from a foster parent and run away. A UGX 1 million cash reward was promised to anyone who could bring the child back “safe and sound,” reportedly offered by Sheilah Gashumba.
According to the viral posts, the foster parents had been supporting the boy through a helper for several months and were willing to adopt him and educate him up to university level.
The boy has since been found, but the details revealed by Sheilah Gashumba show that the viral narrative was largely false and misleading.
“The Person Lied” — Sheilah Gashumba Speaks Out
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Sheilah clarified that the boy was never missing, contrary to what was being circulated online.
She explained that:
The child allegedly took UGX 200,000, which had been given to him, not UGX 8 million
The money was reportedly used to buy skates
There was no disappearance or abduction
Sheilah further alleged that the person who shared the viral post may have been using the emotional story to collect money from sympathetic TikTok users, warning the public not to fall for such tactics.
“Don’t believe everything you see on social media, and don’t forget to be kind to children,” Sheilah cautioned.
