UCC Announces Full Restoration of Internet Services Across Uganda

After days of limited digital access following the 2026 general elections, the wait is finally over. The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has officially announced the full restoration of internet services across the country, effective today, Monday, January 26.

In a public notice released this morning, the regulator confirmed that the necessary technical and security assessments have been completed. As a result, Ugandans can now access the internet and all online platforms without the restrictions that had previously been imposed.

Whether you’re catching up on the latest celebrity news, streaming your favorite Ugandan music videos, or managing your business online, the digital space is now fully open.

The UCC expressed appreciation to the public for their patience and cooperation during the period of limited access. While the temporary “digital blackout” disrupted entertainment, communication, and business activities, the commission stated that the measures were implemented to ensure a safe and stable online environment during the election period.

What This Means for You

  • Full Internet Access: No more signal struggles or restricted connectivity.

  • Social Media & Apps: All platforms are now operating at full capacity.

  • Ongoing Monitoring: UCC says it will continue to oversee the digital space to promote a safe and reliable online experience for all users.

Ugandans can now resume normal online activities as the country returns to full digital connectivity.
