Ugandan TikTok Star Luwilight Arrested Over Cyber Harassment Allegations
TikTok commentator and content creator Aisha Nansubuga, widely recognized online as Luwilight, is reported to have been arrested and detained in connection with allegations of cyber harassment.
The outspoken content creator, known for her takes on Uganda’s entertainment scene and social affairs, was reportedly taken into custody earlier this week and spent a night at Kira Police Station. This development was discussed during a recent episode of the Kasuku Live show.
Insiders close to the situation link the arrest to accusations of online harassment, with Luwilight said to have targeted several individuals in her posts. Among them is Zuena Kirema, wife of celebrated musician Bebe Cool (Moses Ssali) who was allegedly the subject of defamatory statements. Luwilight is accused of criticizing Zuena’s cake business, calling the products low quality and unfit for consumptioncomments claimed to have harmed Zuena’s reputation.
Although images shared on social media appeared to show Luwilight handcuffed, the Uganda Police Force has denied their authenticity. In a statement, police clarified that “the individuals depicted in those images are not officers of the Uganda Police Force but AI-generated.”
During his show, host Kasuku shared that he had communicated with a friend of Luwilight, who verified she was held at Kira Police Station after her arrest.
Additional reports suggest the complaint was filed by Bebe Cool, who alleges that Luwilight used a fake social media account to repeatedly attack his wife. A source stated the harassment involved offensive posts made on Facebook and TikTok from an account authorities associate with Luwilight.
Luwilight has publicly refuted the accusations. She denies ownership of the account in question and has reportedly declined to apologize, maintaining her innocence.
As of now, there has been no official police statement specifying the exact charges or full details of her arrest. Reports indicate she may be brought before court soon, though the timing had not been confirmed at the time of writing.
