Shalom Kaweesi Granted Bail in Cyber Harassment Case as Festive Season Nears
Renowned Ugandan YouTuber Shalom Kaweesi has been granted bail after spending several weeks in custody over charges of cyber harassment. His release has sparked fresh conversation online, with many following the case closely as it continues to unfold through the courts.
Shalom was released on bail by the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Makindye on Monday, following a successful bail application. He was arrested after a complaint filed by Jennifer “Full Figure” Nakangubi, who accused him of cyber harassment, leading to his detention as investigations and court processes progressed.
After his arrest, Shalom was remanded for a week as he awaited the hearing of his bail application. When he returned to court, the magistrate approved his release, allowing him to reunite with his family and spend the festive season at home, a development that quickly drew attention from both supporters and critics.
The decision comes shortly after Full Figure publicly stated that she was willing to forgive Shalom, explaining that she did not wish to keep him away from his children during the holidays. Her comments added a softer tone to what has been a tense public dispute, with many Ugandans weighing in on accountability, forgiveness, and the impact such cases have on families.
Court granted Shalom bail on a non-cash bond of Shs5 million, with each of his sureties also bonded for a non-cash Shs5 million. As part of the bail terms, he is expected to comply with court requirements and avoid actions that could interfere with the ongoing proceedings.
Shalom is expected to return to court on February 3 at 9:30am as the case continues. Until then, the matter remains before court, and the public will be watching closely as the legal process determines the outcome of the allegations.
