MC Kapale Opens Up About His Failed Marriage With American Sugar Mummy and Asylum Struggle

The glittering promise of the American Dream has lured many Ugandans across oceans, but for veteran comedian MC Kapale, that dream recently morphed into a waking nightmare. Born Simon Kawuki Zikusoka, the comic’s journey to the West took a cinematic turn in 2024 when he married a white partner, a move he hoped would pave a smooth road to U.S. citizenship. However, the honeymoon phase was short-lived, and when the marriage collapsed just months later, Kapale found himself stranded in a foreign land with his plans in tatters.

Unwilling to face the perceived "shame" of returning home empty-handed, Kapale turned to the desperate world of asylum seeking. The transition from a celebrated entertainer to a man without a country was brutal; at one point, he was denied basic medical care at a shelter because his formal application hadn't been processed. To secure a permanent spot in the U.S., he was told he needed proof of persecution—specifically based on political beliefs or sexual orientation. Exhausted by the political landscape back in Uganda, Kapale chose a controversial and risky gambit: he decided to manufacture a new identity.

In a series of surreal TikTok live sessions that shocked his fans, Kapale began posing as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, donning the colors and adopting a persona he hoped would convince immigration officials. However, the digital court of public opinion was far less forgiving than he anticipated. Instead of the sympathy he sought to build his case, Kapale was met with a tidal wave of backlash and skepticism. The relentless online vitriol took a devastating toll on his mental and emotional health, leaving him caught in a trap of his own making.

Facing declining health and the realization that a life built on a lie was unsustainable, the comedian reached a breaking point. He decided to abandon the chase for the American green card and board a flight back to the Pearl of Africa. Now safely back on Ugandan soil, Kapale speaks with the humility of a man who looked for paradise elsewhere only to find it at home. His story serves as a raw and unfiltered cautionary tale about the lengths people go to for a "better life" and the peace that comes with finally embracing one’s true reality.
